Tree Top Hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Department has successfully performed a Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy on a 13-year-old girl on February 2, 2021.

Ovarian Cystectomy is a surgery to remove a cyst or cysts from the ovaries. The surgery team removed a large ovarian cyst, the size of 25 cm x 23 cm, through a keyhole procedure using three incisions of 0.5 mm size each. The surgery was performed by Dr. Varsha Rengaraj, Consultant Gynaecologist and Laparoscopic surgeon, assisted by Specialist Gynaecologist Dr. Mahmoud Aboubakr and by a skilled team of OT nurses, with the support of  Dr. Bishnu Kesavan, Consultant ICU and Anaesthesia. Patients who undergo laparoscopic surgery experience faster recovery, less post-operative pain, and quicker healing with early resumption of normal activities. The Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Tree Top Hospital offers multiple laparoscopic procedures including Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (Uterus Removal), Laparoscopic myomectomy ( fibroid removal), Ovarian Cystectomy (Ovarian Cyst Removal), Laparoscopic Surgery for Endometriosis, Hysterectopic Cannulation for Tubal Block, and Hysteroscopy for Polyp Removal.
