Heart disease is the leading cause of death of men and women in the Maldives. Furthermore, due to the severity of its symptoms such as heart attack, heart failure and arrhythmia. Often the underlying condition is not properly diagnosed and treated before a severe symptom occurs.

It is recommended that heart health screening should begin at 20 years of age. Where most screening procedures should be performed once every 2 to 4 years. Doing so allows you and your physicians to identify any potential heart problems before serious complications occur.

Preparation for Heart Screening

• Guests are required to fast for at least 14 hours prior to the appointment - to avoid false-positive results
• Do not consume any stimulants such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, and nicotine
• Guests on maintenance medications are allowed to have sips of water after intake of medications
• It is highly recommended that Guests wear comfortable clothing and jogging shoes for a stress test, as they will be expected to run or walk fast. Bringing an extra shirt is advisable.
