The hospitality industry, where I had the opportunity to interact with guests every day and create memorable experiences. My journey began as a waiter and gradually progressed into guest relations and eventually a Personal Island Host. It was during my time working at a resort that I met one of the owners of Tree Top Hospital, who shared the vision of establishing a premium hospital in the Maldives. That conversation encouraged me to explore a completely new industry, and in September 2017, I became one of the early members of the Tree Top Hospital team.

When I first joined, I managed the hospital’s support building, which was designed to accommodate patients’ bystanders in a hotel-style environment. As the hospital expanded, I was given the opportunity to move into the Business Office, where I now oversee the day-to-day operations of inpatient services. My responsibilities include admissions, financial counselling, discharge coordination, and ensuring patients and their families receive the support they need throughout their stay. Working alongside a dedicated team, I am proud that we continue to provide a smooth and positive experience for our patients.

One of the things I enjoy most about my role is that no two days are ever the same. Every day brings new challenges and different situations, but it also brings opportunities to make a positive difference in someone’s experience. The appreciation we receive from patients and their families, whether through written feedback or a simple thank you, is what motivates me the most. These moments remind me why excellent customer service is so important, and I always encourage my team to create a culture of compassion and professionalism.

Transitioning from hospitality into healthcare was one of the biggest challenges of my career. In the early days of the hospital, there were limited training opportunities, so I made it a priority to learn from every experience. Over time, I taught myself medical terminology, surgical procedures, and the operational aspects of hospital care. Looking back, being promoted to Business Office Manager and receiving the Best Manager Award in 2025 are among the achievements I am proudest of.

My advice to anyone considering a career in guest service is simple: many organizations may offer similar services, but it is the people who deliver those services that truly make the difference. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time fishing with friends, which allows me to relax and recharge before another rewarding day at Tree Top Hospital.
